Hello Christ Church! I share a poem I wrote a couple of months ago. I hope this is an encouragement to you all about the power of the Holy Spirit. God works the power of the resurrection in the heart of believers every day. That means He gives us joy in a troubled world. He gives us truth in hearts that are often deceitful. He gives us fellowship when we are painfully lonely. He gives us wisdom when we feel we’re without a guide. He gives us love in a world starving for it. He sows in our heart the fruit of the Spirit. There is nothing greater than all of these graces. How has the Lord been moving in your heart recently? If you ever see me around church on Sunday or somewhere in Fayetteville, do not be shy. Please share with me how God has been moving in your heart. I would love to know.
When the Lord Moves in the Heart of Man
Mountains sink and valleys rise
A person receives life when they die
On earth, there is nothing greater than
When the Lord moves in the heart of man.
A path back home in desperate need
A pardon received from a guilty plea
A peace surpassing all understanding
A shrinking distance to a love expanding.
A vein implanted, like a river unknown
That flows with a blood to soften stone
A beat that awakens, beats born again
When that stream reaches deserts within.
All this unfolds, with nothing greater than
When the Lord moves in the heart of man.
A longing unmet, yet, in it, she craves
To long and long to the end of her days
A voice fearsome; deep with mystery feared
Yet so tender and holy, It draws her near.
A bow, for our inability to be our own good
To be the righteous man, woman we should
A power, born from belief in the Perfect Son
That raises a new heart after the Risen One.
A Glory found in the joy of a Servant
That by suffering made sinners perfect
A glory in a refining cross and a throne of grace
And a desire to approach both unafraid.
All this unfolds, for there is nothing,
Nothing greater than
For every bit of this to unfold
When the Lord moves in the heart of man.
A flame greater than engulfs a bush, unburnt
He lifts us by the Spirit, mercy immersed
His glorious love sets our very souls ablaze
Sin destroyed and us, a new creation…
Afire forever with a heart changed.
For there is nothing greater than
When the Lord makes a new heart in man.
A silent, dreaded house opens its dingy door
The Incarnate indwells the broken boards,
Secret rooms, ruins and tombs; places made for
A Carpenter’s grace; His space now to restore
A drear place.
Dark memories He depletes
And builds a home as One, joyous and complete.
All this unfolds
With nothing greater than
When the Lord
Makes His Home in the heart of man.
